Dr. Andreas Nataatmadja, BEng, M.Eng, Ph.D, Grad. Cert. (Env. Eng.), FIEAust, CPEng, RPEQ
Andreas is a Senior Lecturer in Pavement and Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Southern Queensland.
Since graduating from Monash University with a PhD in Pavement Engineering, for more than 30 years Andreas had been working in Australia within the broad area of civil engineering. He has worked for VicRoads, Coffey Partners International, Kinhill Engineers, CSR Readymix, Swinburne University of Technology, Griffith University, and Queensland University of Technology. He was also a member of the Committee CE9 (Soil Testing) of Standards Australia.
Prior to joining USQ, Andreas worked as the Unit Manager (Pavement Design & Analysis) of Roads and Maritime Services (RMS-NSW) in Sydney. He was involved in many large road projects in NSW such as Banora Point Upgrade, Woomargama Bypass, Kempsey Bypass and Hunter Expressway. He was involved in many forensic investigations of failed pavements and design of rehabilitation works, including the asphalt overlay design for Victoria Road for Barrier Transfer Vehicle in 2011. This overlay design required the use of high modulus asphalt on top of 60-year-old PCP pavement and the application of Finite Element method for stress analysis. Representing RMS-NSW, Andreas was a member of the Austroads Pavement Structures Review Group (PSRG), which was responsible for updating Austroads Guide to Pavement Design (Part 2) and for planning various national investigation and research activities.
Andreas has published many technical and applied/practical papers in pavement geotechnology and construction materials. He has also supervised and assessed many PhD and master’s research theses.
