David graduated from University of NSW with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with First Class Honours. He has over 30 years’ experience in pavement materials production and technology, pavement design and rehabilitation and pavement asset management modelling. His career spans across the public sector including working on road pavement infrastructure for the Department of Main Roads NSW, Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure SA. Roads and Maritime Services NSW and currently with Cardno now Stantec.

Whilst at Roads and Maritime, David managed the Pavement Structures Section having a team of specialist pavement engineers, scientists and technical staff, and undertaking responsibilities including pavement specification development, staff training, design and peer review. David was a working group member and Project Manager of several Austroads research projects in pavement materials and asset management that addressed the needs of state road authorities across Australia and New Zealand.

Since joining Cardno now Stantec, David has been Pavement Design Lead for several major RMS projects including a section of the Woolgoolga to Ballina upgrade project on the Pacific Highway, Nelligen Bridge realignment, New Bridge over Shoalhaven River at Nowra, Newell Highway Parkes Bypass and has filled the role of Independent Verifier for pavement design for reconstruction of the Tuggerah to Doyalson section of the M1 Pacific Motorway.

David was recently honoured by Roads Australia winning the 2020 Ray Fisher Award for Technical Excellence for being an active proponent for the use of recycled and sustainable materials and processes in road construction and rehabilitation.
