New Training Course - SaFEty & Public Space Lighting

To meet the need for improved community safety and crime minimisation, CPEE in conjunction with the NSW Local Government Community Safety & Crime Prevention Network has developed a one-day workshop focussing on the provision of improved community lighting solutions.

Increasingly, community safety and crime prevention professionals at local government level are required to provide specialist advice to development compliance officers and integrated planning personnel regarding designs and planning. As lighting of public facilities, pedestrian access and residential roadways is key to community safety and crime prevention, having an understanding of the regulatory environment and good practice in lighting application will ensure better advice is delivered.Steve Jenkins at RLW 1

Lighting Community Workshop brochure coverThe 'Public Space lighting for Community Safety' workshop is based on the new Australian Standard 1158 series: Lighting for Roads and Public Spaces, together with the latest relevant Austroads Guides encompassing traffic engineering practices and roadway lighting will provide an awareness of design principles involved in achieving appropriate lighting outcomes with safety and security foremost.

Delegates will be provided with pre-reading so they can refresh/become familiar with lighting terminology & terms, concepts and relationships. Extensive Course Notes will be provided at the course covering sustainability, security and road safety issues.

This workshop provides instruction on the basic principles and their application and is supported by a lighting installations evening coach tour that complements understanding and learning.

Whilst this one-day workshop covers the principles and basics of lighting design, it is not intended to provide specific lighting design training as this is undertaken in the more detailed CPEE intensive two-day workshop, Road & Public Space Lighting Workshop, which takes delegates through lighting from first principles to design completion.
