CPEE TRAINING ‘SUPPORT’ FOR THE DROUGHT-AFFECTED GOULBURN COMMUNITY

The Centre for Pavement Engineering Education (CPEE) regularly provides road and pavement engineering education training in rural and regional Australia.

In recent months CPEE has become acutely aware of the drought conditions throughout New South Wales. As we often deliver road engineering training courses in regional areas, we meet people first hand and learn of the hardships faced by many in Australia’s rural communities.

Recently CPEE presented a short course in Goulburn on ‘Maintenance and Rehabilitation’, responding to a request from engineering staff of the Goulburn Mulwaree Council for a customised course to assist their ongoing cost-effective road maintenance and repair treatments.

Whilst the bulk of attendees came from Goulburn Mulwaree Council others participated from as far afield as Upper Lachlan Shire Council, Canberra, and Port Macquarie Hastings Council.

As part of CPEEs community engagement, we pledged to donate $50 per course registration to the “Mayoral Drought Relief Fund” for wellbeing support within drought effected communities. With registrations at 30 delegates, experienced CPEE course presenter, Mr Geoff Webb, presented the donation of $1,500 to Goulburn Mulwaree Council Mayor, Cr Bob Kirk.

Mayor Kirk was greatly appreciative and will use the donation to help struggling farmers in the Goulburn region to spend money on food and essential services at locally owned business’s.

This follows from our recent pledge and donation of $1,000 to the drought-affected community of Coonamble in central New South Wales.

CPEE is proud to support the resilient communities of Goulburn and Coonamble.
