Dr Jo Devine: BE Hons (Civil), GDip (Tech Mgmt), PhD, MIE, CPEng (1992-1999)
Jo has extensive experience both as an engineer in industry and educator in the tertiary education sector. She held a senior management position in industry with Shell Australia, where she worked as an engineer and project manager since graduation delivering retail and bulk storage fuel projects. Jo subsequently took up an academic position with USQ and was Examiner for a variety of courses across multiple engineering programs. She was also the Program Coordinator for the USQ Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil) program.
Jo has been an active member of the USQ Academic Board, Education Committee and Engineering Education Research Group. She currently serves on the CPEE Learning and Teaching and Curriculum Committee and CPEE Academic Board.
She has published several peer-reviewed papers and a PhD dissertation in Engineering Education. Her primary research interest is the facilitation of access and academic success for diverse student cohorts in engineering. She graduated with Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), with honours, from The University of Adelaide, completed a Graduate Diploma in Technology Management from Deakin University by distance while working full time in industry and has a Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Southern Queensland.
